PWA Slalom and Freestyle, Sotavento, Fuerteventura 2014
This next Canary Island PWA event kicks for windsurfers on Friday and lasts all through the following week, with slalom and freestyle competitions running until August 2nd.
The slalom is for men only, whereas the freestyle event will include competition for the men and women's fleets.
This thread is for all details and reports from that event and as a build up to the competitions.

This week, they have been running a world cup kite event on the same site, with live streaming here:

The live ticker is up and running on the PWA site but the slalom sailors are registering this morning, with the first possible start for race one scheduled at 2pm.
There will be a livestream for this event and I pretty sure Ben Proffitt is once again on the commentary.
UK interest in the slalom heats includes Ross Williams and John Skye – the latter at his first PWA slalom event.
John Skye was out in Cape Town earlier this year, testing and photographing RRD kit for their 2015 range, and he did some slalom racing against other PWA sailors on the Rietvlei lake. He's a great competitor and was no slouch when it came to speed, so it'll be interesting to see where, as a wave sailor, he slots in to this competitive slalom fleet.
The freestyle fleet take over next week, once the slalom is done. And the freestyle fleet includes a lot of UK interest – but more about that later.

Looks like they have enough wind to try and start on time – in about half an hour.
Here's the link to the first race elimination ladder:

On to round two of this second race now.
Shame John Skye is out already, but Ross Williams won his first round heat.
It 's good to see the PWA slalom racing back where it should be – with heat after heat in good wind.
If this wind holds for the week then we could see three or four slalom races per day.
(The forecast for tomorrow is not so good, however.)
