The poles have been through a warming phase..........which in itself is not without precedent...and neither is the opposite scenario, which at its extreme resulted in the periods known as the ice ages........and the poles are merely part of the "globe". The problem is that being stuck with the "fait accompli" global warming thesis, everything that then occurs to weather systems throughout the globe becomes attributed. Worse still the "global warming" thesis puts the blame for climate change on increases in man made co2 emission, which is a very dubious theory at best. All the time, money and political momentum behind controlling co2 emission leads to the impression that we can control climate change if we reduce emissions.............which misses the point that if indeed the globe is entering into a phase of volatile weather change, and we cannot control it ( which is the most likely outcome), there are many other preparatory things we would be better doing to protect our future.
