I got hold of my 2 Shox 42cm SDm's yesterday and I can say that the design really has evolved, the whole mech has been redesigned and a lot of though has gone into real world use. One of the things I really like is that the tail end that has been ratcheted no longer goes up inside the extension, if comes up through the moulding so you can hitch it off and then stuff excess into the pouch on the sail foot, I liked the neatness of the previous design but prefer to see the rope, its much easier to inspect and check it as well as hitching around the extension for extra security. The non ratcheted end dead ends into a normal base cleat for quick release and that is well though out from an working angel as well.

The other pic is 2 pugs in a floating car - whats not to like!

First outing with it for me today.

Have to say I am really impressed, releasing the downhaul is way better than the last version.

The roller for the loop go bit seems better as well and I also like the fact that the rope now doesn't disappear up the extension.

Build quality seems more solid too, especially the ratchet mechanism.

All in all a fantastic bit of kit!

Picked mine up yesterday and used it.

Certainly looks and feels a lot more robust than the old one and has a much more positive ratcheting action.

TallJames and 4boards, thanks of the info. As mine seems to work ok, albeit with a bit of tlc, I think I may just hang on it.

Saw JK's yesterday, they certainly have put a lot of re-engineering thought into the product.
