Thread: Starboard isonic 94 2010 range

I'm probably the heaviest of the posters at 105Kg and regularly use my 7.8 on my 110 and a 39 is spot on, a 41 just generates too much lift even for me! 39 and a 37 would be my two options as I said above. The Windsurfer Formally Known as JKRR - TWFKJKRR or "Him in the Red Shorts"

A lot depends on the brand of fin in question JK. Some give much more lift than others. I was referring to fin sizes for Select S11/S12 ( or s09 for the 37). I think fins like Choco/FHot and indeed some of the latest Select fins are more powerful but less forgiving. What are you using?

I agree and I'm using S11's and S12's from 51 down to 35, they are on the money for me at all points if sailing but the 41 is just too much fin once you are hitting late twenties and them early thirties, you just want to hike your foot against it all the time to keep it down, I can imagine on a wide version it would be ok but I use it a lot on my 125 which is 75 wide and it's great with a 7.0 but the 7.8 needs 43 or 45 depending on sea stateThe Windsurfer Formally Known as JKRR - TWFKJKRR or "Him in the Red Shorts"

Board type?..........sounds like may be using boards with a narrower tail than Isonics and it is tail width that determines fin size rather than max board width............optimum set up recommended by Remi at Starboard and as used by most people I know with this combo, for an Isonic 111 and 107 is 7.8 m with 42cm fin. I use 43cm or 46cm fin with an Isonic 122, 48cm with the Isonic 127 but all the Isonics have a huge sail range and fin range to go with it.

I've sailed both the iSonic 111 and the Mistral 110 that JK has got and the Mistral does have a slightly narrower tail and you can get away using smaller fin sizes than you would normally do on the 111 with the same size sail.
I used the following fin sizes/Sail combinations on the 111 and they were spot on for me at 100kg
42cm - 8.5m
40cm - 7.5m
38cm - 6.6m
I could probably use a fin 2cm smaller for each sail size on the Mistral 110
I was using Vector Maui Canefire's 42/40/38cm and Vector Maui Rockit 38cm
