    Fragility in a mast is more likely to be because of cloth that has not wetted out properly or other sub-standard manufacturing issues, or maybe if the mast was designed with lightness as a requirement above durability as you might find in some race masts. Otherwise I'd say that a 100% carbon mast was generally a "very good thing" with the one likely disadvantage being the price.
