Southbourne is quite a bit more onshore in the prevailing wind, which also makes it a bit wavier.

What do people think about a club where kites and windsurfers coexist? That happens at west wittering doesn't it?

on that issue, I think the council need to decide if they are trying to encourage the general windsurfing population to their beach or if they are trying to create an exclusive, fee paying facility for those who can afford it and are happy to sail at only one beach.

I should probably clarify. It's not that the council is specifically targeting windsurfers. It's more that the council has decided it wants to have this "Coastal Activity Park", and is now wondering what to put in it, including windsurfing. It's already a good spot for windsurfing, and they're just looking at what could be added to make it more attractive. At this stage all options are being considered.

I think the parking this is coming through as the biggest prerequisite. If you can't park there,or won't pay the fortune required to park it doesn't matter what other facilities are in place. This could be a problem, and council's are quite unrelenting on setting parking charges these days (but we'll see).

I accidentally bought a second hand quad from OTC Weymouth the other day, and mentioned the project to Tris Best while doing so. Do people think an OTC style (or run) test centre for high end kit would work? I think it would be great to have it there (if kit was left rigged up I could get a sail in my lunch breaks!) Not sure it could be commercially successful though?

Gregg, I think though it would be nice, the ongoing investment in a centre, would not be viable.
