some would say foolhardy

salutary lesson and a bit of a reality check... really need a more girl-friendly, downwind wash-in zone to risk those kind of rinsings ... more used to much smaller 'sand', with the odd groyne and outfall pipe to dodge, rather than beach-ball bearings nestling in the fissures of ziggurat rock ledges

try K'Bay next time, I got washed there (on the bench) couple times on Sunday, but didn't find it too bad (just hold on to your gear :-), once getting closer to shore the whitewater eases and you'll find time to jump back on board and sail out passed the breaking waves, on way back in get upwind into waves, pick a nice one and the fun starts again...easy

BTW: where exactly is magic stones? right next to Barry island? planning an explorer trip in february half term (probably ending in Rhosneigr)

could've been a lot worse... thought I was going to snap my foot off getting rag-dolled around amongst the boulders at one point.... the thought of sailing there without boots fills me with real terror

I never try to walk in places like this, in fact i try to keep my body floated horizontal and wait until waves get less violent.
