don't go to silver sands, it's not that windy.

go to maui if you can.
I flew there for £1200. Am sure you could get it cheaper.
While it is windy and wavy EVERY DAY - camp one and kanaha remain straight forward places to sail and incredibly beautiful. As is everything there.

Punta San Carlos - I have never been.

errrr... depends when you go! Its solidly wavey October-April and solidly windy May-September. Waves are almost non-existent june-august except for an occasional messy tradewind swell or S swell at kehei. You can get windless spells or wind from strange directions October-April. October/November and March/April are your best chance to get wind and waves. Perhaps as good a chance as you have anywhere else, but its definitely not guaranteed as I know from personal experience!

I think everyone should do at least one extended trip at some pointm, and the older I get the more I want to just go and do it
Flew to LA in 2000, bought a Toyota Tercel for 600$, filled the boot with 300$ food and a tent, and drove down there. Trashed the car transmission on the dirt road on the way in so got a lift back when I left. Accumulated spare camping gear and fresh food from the US campers who would only stay a week or two and be over provisioned. Once you are there it is the cheapest place in the world as there are no shops to spend money in. If you have an emergency the Solosports crew will help but you are largely responsibe for being self sufficient

Well worth the trip and a real experience and met some great people
