Spoke to Tris last week and it looks like the building landlord had a few of his own ideas on how the centre could deliver and has got more involved.

Still I believe Tris is investigating new options and ideas at different locations, so watch this space.

What Bouke and Duncan say confirms what (little) I've heard. Marko, the new boss, also has the lease for the building. So that should mean a stable situation re the premises. He's a keen local windsurfer, so I'm expecting the new centre to be run with just as much enthusiasm and friendly professionalism as the old OTC.

As I say (above), it's great news that they can now do clinics / tuition. I know that Tris and the original staff found it very frustrating not to be allowed to teach, seeing as they were all originally instructors (in Vass I believe). Hopefully they can build good relations with the local authorities - something that Luca (the Italian rental centre next door to OTC / Playa Sur hotel) has worked hard at.

I'll be very glad to see them re-open as 1 - I've bought all my boards from OTC for the past five years as it's just fantastic to be able to try them out before buying; and 2 - I really like having a British windsurfing centre, hearing English occasionally, and socialising with forumites, to balance all the lovely Germans, Russians etc who make Medano such a cosmopolitan place to live.

I wish them All the Best with the new centre in 2013, and hope to meet lots of forumites here in el Medano through the year. Drop me a line if you're coming out so that we can have a ceveza in FlashPoint (you can't miss me - apparently I look like the Queen Mother )

Mistral M84 Twinzer for Sale. Needs a repair, but a deal can be done and this classic board should see some more waves. Send me an e-mail or PM for details. Also various used Tushingham Rocks (4.2, 4.7, 5.2, 5.7) going cheap. Need to collect from El Medano.

LOL - none taken. There are quite a few even elder statesmen windsurfers here though - several well into their seventies. I'd like to think that I'd still be windsurfing at least as old as say the queen - who knows ?

Ummm, Cabezo launch is much the same, but it alters a bit according to what the tides / currents do to the stones / sand. The rocks downwind are called "Godzilla" as a mark of respect that you have to pay them. A lot of kit has been well munched there. The only change that I can think of is that the car park over-looking the beach has been improved, and people now stay there in the vans much more.

When I launch there I usually go one beach upwind - ie to the left of the little cliff, and enter / exit the water just in front of a mini sand dune there. It's the only bit of sand that goes into the water, and it gives you more time to avoid Godzilla if you screw it up in the shore-break.

Anyway, hope to see you here again one day - next time definitely say hello.
