Official Announcement - Changes for 2012
Following an extensive review of the current windsurfing market and the demands of both audiences and brands, Boards have made the proactive decision to increase their investment and presence within the online market. From Jan 1st 2012, they will begin a program of investment that will include the launch of a new windsurfing website and mobile applications (please note – the forum will be unaffected other than enhancements to speed and reliability which we realise will be much welcomed).
To complement the enhanced digital experience and to better optimise the use of traditional media, Boards magazine will be restructured into a high quality 'reference' publication with two scheduled releases per year. In addition to these publications, the team will also create a Boards 'basics' magazine aimed at increasing windsurfing accessibility and participation.
Subscribers of Boards magazine, will receive a letter with issue 280 explaining what this will mean to them fully.
Overall, this investment and restructuring represents an exciting future for Boards magazine and one that should continue to increase audiences through media that best support windsurfers in the UK and beyond.

WTF? So there will be no monthly mag? Just a website with twice yearly printed issues?
Blimey. Pass the mothballs.

What will I read in the bath?
And more to the point, what happens to my subscription?
[edit] actually just found my subs expire in December anyway, but it's still a valid question...

I'd love to be a fly on the wall of the "windsurf" mag office.

Hopefully it will not affect all the current staff too much. They have been really good over the years and it would be a great shame if they were all put out to pasture.

I blame all the fin threads – and that one on the Who and Quadrophenia.
Interesting times though.
I imagine the demographic readership has to change to bring in advertising.
Late edit: Actually, thanks to Dave White and all the staff at boards for the recent issues which presumably must have been produced with all this hanging over them. I for one really appreciate the magazine that they have produced over the recent couple of years. My thanks as well to the test team and in particular to Adrian for all his dedication and common sense approach.

Ok, date check. Nope not April the 1st so I shall continue.
The letter better be good, as it will be a breach of contract not to supply the issues for which I have already been direct debited for in advance.
Exciting future for Boards magazine? 12 issues down to 2 - er. thats not really a future is it.
Hoping to be injury free and sailing shortly.....!!!!
