Nice little after work session at a local spot. Two of us on 5.8's in the sun.

Left work at 12, made Old Hunny by 2. I must have just missed all the good wind, as the kites all looked pretty small and they were coming in. Went out with a 5.8 for 3 and a half hours, pretty much had the water to myself. Tried lots of shakas, backies and spocks. Back home before 8.

Minster, took the missus for her 2nd sail.
rigged a 2.6 and 180 litre board :-)
she did great, sailing out, tacking and coming back, even got one beach start done.

i had a quick go too, 100% hit rate with the tacks, but then it was a bit easier than on the 72 litre quad.

The Bristol channel funnel effect in full force. Solid wind for my 5.8 and 90 L wc all afternoon at the magic stones in s Wales. Not a cloud in the sky, felt like Summer. Not bad for a 10 knot forecast on the gfs / windguru.

Here it is as predicted by windfinder, looking at the gfs it is possible the latter end of the week could be like this everyday.

Ditched the Camber plans and met Sam and Dom at St Margs for a dawnie, figured there should be a lot of windswell, and the tides were right for some great riding there.

The place delivered, rigged 3.7 + 72, first runs there was so much power in the sail, gusty wind and big lumpy seas, I tried to keep speed down to 'just planing' as that was the only way of sailing that felt like it wouldnt end in disaster.
Then came in and stuck on 1cm of downhaul and bingo, all spot on and flying about.

Some big lumps coming through and cleaning up under the cliff for some of the longest frontside rides I've ever had on wind gear. Really pleased with myself because in the last few sessions my frontside riding has come along no end, feel so comfortable and able to keep speed up and race down the line, which has always been my favourite thing in the world to do no matter what manner of surf gear I'm on.

Bottled it with all forms of loops today, I'm a bit scared of breaking stuff there as it is not a place you want to be drifting downwind next to trashed gear at! Should have put on the camera though, but its a bit of a pain.. still woulda been nice to get some footage today.

What was Camber like?

4.5 and 80L evo Bump n jump session in Reykjavík. Decided to try the forward, somehow have not gone for one since christmas and then i was asslanding them without sailing away. Today I was way off, basically just catapulting, have to go through the basics again.

Nice day though, sunny and air close to 10c so pretty nice.

Off for a week in Moulay this evening.

The past three day weekend has been excellent there. I will dig out the photos.

Just checked in with Thomson, Gatwick North to Marrakech.

I bought flight last night for £68 return. You have to book extra luggage three days before you fly... Or pay at the airport. Maximum bag weight 23 kilos. Up to five bags in total Sporting equipment is £45 return per bag. Same at the airport as online.
I have two 23 kilo sports bags -75 and 83 in one and 3.7, 4.2, 4.7, 5.0 plus masts and booms in the other. Then 20 kilos of fins, harness, extensions and some clothes.

They didn't weigh the windsurfing bags! But they insisted on weighing the hand luggage which is max 5 kilos! I had to hide my laptop and iPad behind the check in desk to get my rucksack to 5 kilos. A very different strategy to Easyjet, which allows 44kilos maximum check in luggage, but a much more flexible hand luggage allowance.

Power hour at shoreham in the run up to high tide. Absolutely nuking 4m weather and a fairly chunky sea was really good fun with loads of big floaty jumps and "swell riding" on offer. Unfortunately I was on my own so I generally played it safe. It was one of those sessions with injury or kit breakage written all over it and I didn't fancy that happening when I was all alone. That's my excuse anyway:o.

I'm not promising anything, but the way the swell was building it could be really good later on the low tide beaches in the SE. Widewater was doing its best to look like a point break when a set came through. Shame all the waves ended in a head high closeout onto dry shingle or it would have been pretty epic! We need to get rid of the rock groyne downwind and see if it flattens the beach out a bit, then we might have a much needed high tide wave spot :).

An early start at Brancaster or Old Hunny mght have paid off but my late one at Hunny didn't. A pleasant couple of hours bogging about in the sun - relaxing rather than exhilerating.

Dunes full power 4.2, lovely ramps, nice shorey for some bashes, I had the time of my life. Did the splits when my back foot came out of straps on a high jump, think I concussed myself in a pushy crash, ripped a big hole in my hand, bruised shin, scraped all the skin off the top of my foot (through 3mm boots).. feel like Hunter Hearst Helmsley has just spend a few hours suplexing me.

Now a shower and up to London for some serious beering with me rockstar mate, does life get any better..

Played the sacrificial lamb/guinea pig again today to good effect... First on the water at Cooden about 2.30 on 5m and 100ltr, which was too much, so came in and went to 4.7 and 85 which was perfect!

Cue another 90mins of full-on blasting and jumping, ultimately with 15 others. Great session, making up for a bit of a skunking at Spray too early yesterday afternoon.

As no one has started, Newton on the incoming tide for a bit of wave and white water. Started on 5.2m Rock and 94ltr Kode, then the wind filled a bit more and changed to the 4.7m Superfreak. Wind filled more so stuck the Quad 76 on. Wind filled a bit more so the 4.2m would be required, so decided to quit at that point before I injured myself. Quite a few out.

Took a bit of a gamble with the met office only forecasting 15-16mph, but as almost always Aldeburgh paid off.

Arrived at 12.30 to find not a lot of wind. With 30 mins the cloud cleared, the sun came out and the wind slowly picked up so I was decently powered up on a 5.9 with plenty enough for some freestyle. Girlfriend was out as well on her 5.2 having fun.

Sailing club windmeter was only showing 13kts, though that's all you need for a decent session there due to the outgoing tide on the river.

Drove two hours out of Reykjavík, very nice waves all over the peninsula we checked out but too offshore so we went for a 3 hour freestyle session on a nice little pond with 5.0 and 4.5 sails. Awesome day.
