From the BBC news... 55 beaches in England have passed the [tougher] Blue Flag test.

Fewer beaches have made the grade, but on a positive note there is a higher standard to pass from the EU, so that may ultimately drive standards up from the water comapnies? Possibly good news me in the shorter term with the Hants coast and into Sussex as far as LA getting a Pass. Staying around the South-East it's not so good for Kent ouside of Thanet or most of Sussex though. :-(

The cynic in me also wonders when the tests are taken as doubtless tides, storms etc have an influence. As I recall, an excess of rain in Portsmouth will fill Langstone with all sorts of things you really don't want down your throat and quite apart from Esso Beach, doubtless that would swill its way around to the Blue Flag Hayling Seafront.

I like this vid a lot, not least because Graham Ezzy is pretty intelligent and tries to balance the draw of his grownup/student/intellectual/city life with his sunnier beach upbringing.

Done a lot of thinking about this lately and I've decided I've had enough of this forum now, or more specifically Basher. I know I shouldn't go cos of one person's presence but his arrogance and telling off grown men for posting a windsurfing video in the weather thread was the icing on the cake.

i don't get the enjoyment from this that I used to get, I love banter and taking the piss out of people but Basher doesn't get it and doesn't let others do it. He also doesn't understand that there's more to life than windsurfing and that a lot of us do many other sports.

I'm friends with a lot of you on Facebook and I find that much friendlier with better banter and no one getting upset! So if we are not friends on there feel free to search and add me (Steve England)
I'll see most of you on the water and if not at NWF or London drinks, I may need reminding on FB about the drinks though please Nick!

Something you do not see everyday is a the last remaining Lancaster bomber flying above you. I am currently sitting here in the office at Hendon and it has circled above us a few time. Blimey it is loud. I cannot imagine what it would be like to fly one at 60ft from the water while being fired at.
